Frequently Asked Questions

The keys are patented or unpatented and patented keys always come with a key registration card.

Loss or theft of the key significantly reduces the security of Your property. We recommend you to re-encode the lock or replace it with a new one.

We have a wide selection of the most common key blanks, the duplication of keys takes place in our store and it takes about 5 minutes. We cut all ABLOY and ASSA keys.

Remember! Some keys, such as ABLOY Disklock, Novel and Protec, are protected with a key registration card, which means that it is illegal to make an additional key or duplications without the card. Be sure to take the security card with you to the lock store with the key!

A key registration card is the only document that proves that the person presenting the key is its owner, and keys protected by a key registration card may not be reproduced by any key workshop without the card.

The ABLOY keys protected by the key registration card are Disklock, Novel, Protec and Protec2.

In the case of a separate lock key, the lock core must be recoded or replaced.

Remember! Keep the key card in a safe place and do not share it with others. If you lose the key registration card, it is safer to recode the lock cylinder. As a new apartment owner, a key registration card must be handed over from the previous owner or building manager together with the key.

If the door hinges are on the right when opening the door towards you, it is a right-handed door and if the door hinges are on the left, it is a left-handed door.

It is possible to open different locks with the same key, this is called master keying.

Master keying is the ability to use one key to open one or more locks that are keyed differently. This is used in commercial setups, e.g. a janitor may have a single key that opens every door in the building. It is also used in apartment complexes where each renter may have a key to their apartment, and that same key can also open the main door into their building or other common areas.

A and B measurements are required to determine the length of the cylinder. A- measurement is the thickness of the door leaf and B- measurement is the outside measurement from the door leaf to the center of the lock case.

Backset is a measurement from the lock case front plate to the center of the cylinder or measurement from the door edge to the centre of the cylinder sunken hole. You have to know the backset for choosing the lock case with the right depth.
